Terms of use
The rules for using auracheck.dev. By creating an account you accept them.
What auracheck.dev is
A free service that gathers public open source statistics (downloads, installs, stars, followers) from third-party registries into a public profile, a leaderboard and share images. It’s run by Jesús Lagares (see the legal notice) and isn’t affiliated with npm, PyPI, Microsoft, Open VSX, itch.io or GitHub; their names and trademarks belong to their owners.
Your account
- You must be at least 14 to sign up. One account per person.
- Link only registry accounts and API keys that are yours. Claiming someone else’s work, or impersonating anyone, gets the account removed.
- Keep your password safe; you’re responsible for what happens in your account.
Your data on your profile
Your data stays yours. You let us show your public profile, README card, share images and widget while your account exists; deleting your account ends that. You can hide packages, leave the leaderboard or delete everything from settings.
Fair use
- Don’t inflate numbers (fake downloads, stars or accounts) to climb the leaderboard.
- Don’t scrape the site in bulk, overload it, or try to get around its limits or security.
- Don’t use the service, its cards or images for anything unlawful or misleading.
The numbers
Figures come from third parties and are shown as they report them, with the limits explained in “How we count”. They can be incomplete, delayed or wrong, and the service is provided “as is”, without guarantees of accuracy or availability.
itch.io API keys
If you add your itch.io key, we store it encrypted and only use it to read your games’ download counts. You can revoke it on itch.io at any time; deleting your account deletes it.
Sponsors
Sponsor slots are advertising and are labelled as such. We choose them, but we don’t endorse their products; what you do on their sites is between you and them.
If you advertise
Advertising is a business-to-business agreement: you act as a business or professional, not as a consumer. These rules add to the rest of these terms and to what the advertise page explains.
- Review: we take products useful to people who build and launch software (development, hosting, analytics, SEO, design, AI, productivity and the like). We don't take gambling, crypto investment or trading, adult content, weapons, miracle products, or anything misleading or illegal. We review every ad by hand before it goes live, answering within 24 hours. We may turn a request down without giving reasons; if we do, nothing is charged.
- Price and billing: prices are monthly, in US dollars and before taxes, which are added where they apply. The first month is charged when the slot becomes yours, then every month automatically until you stop renewing.
- Outbidding: anyone can offer double a taken slot's current price. Whoever has the right to match gets 3 days; if they don't, they keep the slot until the end of the month already paid and then it goes to the higher offer. An offer isn't charged until the slot is theirs; if it's beaten or matched, it's cancelled at no cost.
- Stopping: you can stop renewing at any time from your private page. You keep the slot until the end of the paid month; part of a month in progress isn't refunded.
- Your content: you confirm you may use your ad's name, logo and text and that they don't infringe anyone's rights, and that your link leads to a lawful site that doesn't mislead. We may remove an ad that breaks these terms; if we remove it through no fault of yours, we refund the unused part of the month.
- Numbers: impressions and clicks are counted without cookies and exclude bots, so they're approximate. We don't guarantee a number of visits or any particular result.
- If a payment fails, you keep your slot for 3 days while we try again every day and you can change your card from your private page; if it still can't be charged, the slot is released. We remind you by email 3 days before every renewal.
Ending
You can delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms, and we may change or stop the service; if we shut it down, we’ll give notice when we can.
Liability
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses or for decisions made based on the figures. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer.
Changes and law
If these terms change in a way that matters, we’ll announce it on the site before it applies. They are governed by Spanish law; if you are a consumer, you can go to the courts of where you live.
Pending legal review before launch.
